Internal medicine is the Chinese Medicine specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. We are especially skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes, especially in disease states that find no known cause or treatment with Western Medicine.

Internal Medicine Diagnostic Process

On your initial consultation at our acupuncture clinic, you will fill in our question form which has specific questions that will help us determine the nature of your health problems. These questions relate to your internal organ functions hence the term internal medicine, clients often find filling in our form very informative and surprising as they start to become aware of their internal health condition and the many symptoms they suffer from which they had just learnt to live with.

Tongue Diagnosis

Also as part of the diagnostic process in our clinic your tongue will be inspected, the tongue is the beginning of your gastrointestinal tract and as a muscle has very deep connections with your internal organs.

Pulse Diagnosis

Your pulse will also be checked, but not just the speed as in Western Medicine, the art of pulse taking is slowly becoming a dying art in the field of Chinese Medicine which is due to complexity and skilled required to make it a useful tool for diagnosing.

We are proud to say that in our Acupuncture clinic pulse diagnosis is a major component of our diagnostic process. Your pulse is also often checked through out the duration of your Acupuncture treatment to check for changes of your internal system and when the desired change is present in your pulse we will often also make to changes to the acupuncture points used during the treatment to get maximum results.
